The individual player and team evaluation is one of the most important services I offer to the teams for a coaching staff and the players to understand their specific skills and strategy developmental needs. In most cases player evaluation is used to place players onto teams. An important aspect that is missing in many cases is that most teams do not use player evaluations as a tool for coaches to develop players based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. Placing players on teams is one thing, but what you do with those players once the teams are formed is another. Player evaluation is a tool to be used for developing players. This is where I come in. Having a solid player evaluation process in place can help make the develpmental process much easier. The evaluation of individual players will be given to coaches so that they can see what the strengths and weaknesses of the players are.Another key point is to post the criteria of what the evaluators are looking for, so that parents can see what the players are being judged on. These criteria must be clearly defined, objectively assessed and justifiable.

 

The Objectives of Player Evaluation

 

♦ To provide a fair and impartial assessment of a player's total hockey skills level

 

♦ To provide coaches with the opportunity to build a team and playing strategy based on            their knowledge of players skills strengths, weaknesses and developmental potential

 

♦ To provide players with the knowledge, opportunity and flexibility to set their own personal     developmental goals

 

♦ To make players aware of what and how they need to improve to reach another level of            play

 

♦ To provide uniformity and consistency in the evaluation process such that a player and           parent expectations are consistent from year to year

 

​The team training environment is the best strategy for building an ultimate skating, puck control, playmaking, game skills and team performance. Focusing on all your teams' needs, skating speed, puckhandling, an offensive and/or defensive skills in specific game situations, the training allows me to target and correct individual skills, weaknesses, build strengths, improve hockey skills and game sense, and develop confidence and self-esteem in particular game situations. I will teach your team more game specific skills, playmaking and creativity.

I will show you how to create a winning atmosphere in your dressing room, during your practices and on the bench during the games. I will analyse your practices, usage of assistants, ice time, flow of practices and your plan for the year. I can analyse games, your pre and post game discussions and communication during the game. Most importantly, I will constructively guide you to be a better coach for yourself and your playersto reach all your goals.

 

Your team is only as strong as your ability to inspire, develop, motivate, encourage and  guide the players on your team who needs the most improvement.
